[recencere] De nominum formularum
Well, (now I prefer to talk in English, because of convinience) we have already a template Template:Delere for (speedy or not) deletion candidates. On Latin Wikipedia (Vicipaedia) we have w:Template:Delenda. I think we are better to share same names for templates with our elder sister. Most of our potential contributors would be familiar to the way in Latin Wikipedia, and slight different of naming convention would cause some troubles (I confess I couldn't figure how La WP called "stub" (stipula) for a long time and hesitated to ask other editors this silly question). Of course we can have two names and turn one into a redirect to another. In this case we will have "Delenda" and a redirect "Delere" or vise versa. How about this idea? --Aphaea 03:49 iun 22, 2005 (UTC)
- ok your idea is better. Me ciño. --Donnio 15:42 iun 22, 2005 (UTC)
[recencere] Licensum
We have a link to GFDL page on FSF, but GFDL requires us to have the document on our website, not only put a link to their website. So I think we have to put GFDL on a certain project page, and it is better we starts with GFDL1.2. If you have a different idea, please let me know. --Aphaea 15:31 iun 22, 2005 (UTC)
[recencere] Motto
Each Wikimedia project has its motto (like "Free encyclopedia"). For Wikiquote, English motto is "free compendium of quotations", as far as I know. When one uses "Cologne blue" skin, this motto is always displaed at the top. And right now it is "The Free Encyclopedia". So we have to localize it into the proper one.
I don't want to decide it uniliterary. My idea is "compendium liberus citationum" but "collectio libera citationum" is also okay. I would like Donnio to let me know his idea. But we are definitely no encyclopedia project, so I will change this "subtitle" to "The Free Compendium of Quotations" without consult ... --Aphaea 08:33 iun 23, 2005 (UTC)
[recencere] Vicilibri Latina
Hi, I'm from the Latin Wikibooks, which is at the moment a shambles. I've been made administrator there until 31 July, and I'm trying to fix the place up. However, I seem to be the only user. If you are in any way so inclined, please go over there and help. Thank you very much! -b:Usor:Dbmag9
[recencere] Request
Hi, I am user meta:user:Walter. I respectfully request this community to consider my following request; I write a newsletter about what is going on in the Wikimedia projects in all languages. It is my hope that every community, like this one, has some people who read Wikizine. Then I can maybe receive some news from those readers about your project and in the other direction the can inform there community in your own language about the Wikimedia news possibly. I would like to ask this community to include on this page on the top and/or a relevant page a small banner for Wikizine.
If a banner is placed here on the correct page the change that someone here will think about Wikizine and report some local news will increase highly I suspect. Or that people will take a look and read the Wikimedia news. And maybe even share it locally. Here are the banners; meta:Wikizine/banners
My apologies that this is in English and the Wikizine is also in English. But there is not other way to do this. If there are questions please ask it here. I will be watching this page for two weeks from now frequently. Greetings, --Walter 14:36, 20 Iulii 2006 (UTC)
[recencere] Lettera J
Grazie. (Risposte anche qui). --87.10.192.15 12:08, 7 Septembris 2006 (UTC)
- Gratiam ago tibi ad consilium ... well, we have no fixed policy yet, if we cast away J letter, as Special:Allpages suggested. Personally I prefer to use J in the beginning of words, but it seems not the way our biggest sister Wikipedia has chosen, and not the way the antique Roman did. I don't oppose you expel J letters from this project, but personally I would like to wait until our community grows much more .... --Aphaea 17:19, 10 Aprilis 2007 (UTC)
[recencere] Recencere ?
Shouldn't it be 'recensere' instead of 'recencere ?? And where can it be changed?
- That element only can be changed by an administrator. I hope that one of "them" see this message! Thanks--RoyFocker 09:28, 21 Aprilis 2009 (UTC)
[recencere] Three meals from anarchy
I am trying to find an origin of the paraphrased quote:
- Civilization/society is never more than three meals away from anarchy.
Someone at English Wikiquote asked about it, and my initial research turned up a suggestion that it dates from Roman times. Quia scio ego circiter zeroticam Latinam ☺, I am hoping that someone here might either know a Roman source of this idea, or at least be able to provide properly inflected search terms to allow a Latin-ignorant Google search to pick up promising possibilities. Any ideas? Thanks. ~ Jeff Q 17:43, 4 Octobris 2007 (UTC)
Salve!
Please use this page to discuss Vicilibri Latina, as well as just to have general discussion.

[recencere] Historia Romana
(EN) I'm new to this wiki, and it looks like there's not much going on. Perhaps a fitting topic to work on would be roman and ancient history. I don't have much time, but I'd be willing to work on it a little. What do people think?

- (EN) Hi! If you plan to create textbook-style content, then Vicilibri is the right place here. If you plan to work on encyclopedic content (objectivity, relying on sources), you might want to consider the sister project Vicipaedia, the free encyclopedia written in Latin. As a starting point, you may want to take a look at w:Categoria:Imperium Romanum or w:Categoria:Roma antiqua. Greetings, --UV 23:13, 1 Decembris 2006 (UTC)

[recencere] Move Source Material to Vicifons
There are hundreds of things that we need to do. Something that anyone can do is tag articles which need moving to Vicifons. Do this by putting in the template Formula:Fn. Articles tagged with this are listed in Categoria:Vicifons. Dbmag9 16:56, 30 Maii 2006 (UTC)
If you see an article here tagged with Formula:Fn but it is already there, please change Formula:Fn in the text to {{Vicifons2|NAme of article}}. See Wikibooks:Vectura for more information. Dbmag9 12:51, 1 Iunii 2006 (UTC)

[recencere] Build a Community
There is no community here. That is not good. People, when you come here, stay here, and get other people to come here. I will soon make a welcoming message for new users. Please, make people, new and old, welcome here! Dbmag9 16:56, 30 Maii 2006 (UTC)
[recencere] Make useful Content
Vicilibri and Vicifons are two very different things. Vicilibri is for textbook-style content that you have made yourself, while Vicifons is for public source material that is notable for some reason. They are both important and useful, but they are very different. Please don't confuse them further. Dbmag9 16:56, 30 Maii 2006 (UTC)
[recencere] Purpose
We need a purpose here. We have a general one: Vicilibri is for textbook-style content that you have made yourself, but this is not enough. Please put below clear ideas about what you want from Vicilibri.
- Vicilibri should be something that people who speak Latin (yes, I know, there are no native speakers) can go to, and learn how to do something. Dbmag9 16:02, 6 Iunii 2006 (UTC)
- la.wikibooks will have only books written for the pleasure of writing in latin. There are no speakers and making a book is a more complex thing than writing a dictionary voice or an enciclopedic one this make, this site one of the most slowgrowing wm project. So now ve have only 0 pages. I can put here all my experience of it.books sysop and my poor latin. I will traslate here the latin book. let's try. The Doc 19:25, 5 Iunii 2006 (UTC)
- I noticed that the Latin Literature deserves from little to no space to technical and medieval textbooks. Even if I understand that this should be a point of collision with Vicifons, the inclusion of such prose (according to criteria to be discussed and shared with Vicifons) would prevent this project to be completely empty. What about this?
[recencere] Questions
On this project, would it be possible to write original fiction or poetry that I would like to share or have edited by other Latin Litterates?
Also, I think one great use of time and effort would be to create a latin language grammar and primer for another language such as English, French, or probably even more useful, Greek.

[recencere] Betawiki: better support for your language in MediaWiki
Dear community. I am writing to you to promote a special wiki called Betawiki. This wiki facilitates the localisation (l10n) of the MediaWiki interface. You may have changed many messages here to use your language in the interface, but if you would log in to for example the Japanese language Wiktionary, you would not be able to use the interface as well translated as here. In fact, of over 1,700 messages in the core of MediaWiki, 1030 messages have been translated. Betawiki also supports the translation of messages for well over 100 extensions, with over 1,550 messages. Translators for over 70 languages contribute their work to MediaWiki this way every month.
If you wish to contribute to better support of your language in MediaWiki, as well as for many MediaWiki extensions, please visit Betawiki, create an account and request translator privileges. You can see the current status of localisation of your language on MediaWiki.org and do not forget to get in touch with others that may already be working on your language on Betawiki.
If you have any further questions, please let me know on my talk page on Betawiki. We will try and assist you as much as possible, for example by importing all messages from a local wiki for you to start with, if you so desire.
You can also find us on the Freenode IRC network in the channel #mediawiki-i18n where we would be happy to help you get started.
Thank you very much for your attention and I do hope to see some of you on Betawiki soon! Cheers! Siebrand@Betawiki 16:44, 13 Decembris 2007 (UTC)
[recencere] Bot policy
Hello. To facilitate steward granting of bot access, I suggest implementing the standard bot policy on this wiki. In particular, this policy allows stewards to automatically flag known interlanguage linking bots (if this page says that is acceptable), which form the vast majority of such requests. The policy also enables global bots on this wiki (if this page says that is acceptable), which are trusted bots that will be given bot access on every wiki that allows global bots.
This policy makes bot access requesting much easier for local users, operators, and stewards. To implement it we only need to create a redirect to this page from Project:Bot policy, and add a line at the top noting that it is used here. Please read the text at m:Bot policy before commenting. If you object, please say so; I hope to implement in one week if there is no objection, since it is particularly written to streamline bot requests on wikis with little or no community interested in bot access requests. [recencere] Global bots
Hello. The standard bot policy was updated to allow global bots, which are now technically possible. These are trusted bots that will be given bot access on every wiki that allows global bots (the local policy or request page must explicitly allow them, or they won't get access on this wiki). The current requirements for global bots are:
- a global bot must only maintain interlanguage links or fix double-redirects;
- a global bot must have already been active on several wikis, with long-term contributions demonstrating its trustworthiness.
Does anyone object to allowing global bots on this wiki? I'll update the local policy in a week if there are no objections. Thanks. Laaknor 21:46, 23 Ianuarii 2009 (UTC)
